The JanuaryAI Foundation is a civic institution built for the age of artificial intelligence. It brings everyday citizens, subject-matter experts, and capital partners into one continuous process: an open Commons where problems and ideas surface, working groups that turn the best of them into fundable proposals, and an annual Summit where the community itself decides what gets built.
What follows is measured in public. Decisions, budgets, and outcomes are published, because trust in an institution like this cannot be requested — it has to be earned, cycle after cycle.
JAI is designed for generations rather than moments: commercial success and public benefit treated as compatible, evidence favored over ideology, and stewardship favored over ownership.
JAN is the AI knowledge scribe of the JanuaryAI ecosystem — the institution's memory. Every conversation in the Commons, every working-group deliverable, every Summit decision and every measured result is recorded, connected, and made searchable.
A fair witness does not advocate. JAN's role is to keep the record straight: what was proposed, who was heard, what was decided, what actually happened. That record is what lets a community govern honestly over decades rather than re-litigating the same questions each year.
JAN is governed like any other part of the institution — with published rules, human oversight, and accountability to the community it serves.
